1st Birthday!

Maddy had a wonderful 1st birthday! Here is the breakdown of our birthday/holiday weekend:
  • Thursday - The Big Day! Maddy and I spent the day together. I got to show her the new green and white polkadot chair that her Daddy and I got her. She loved it even though she wasn't fully awake yet. We went to the doctor to get our shots and make sure we were ok to eat all kinds of birthday foods. She officially weighs 21 lbs 4 ozs and is 30 in tall. She's just right for her age! We got to visit with friends and do a little shopping before family started to arrive.
  • Friday - Russ's parents and sister Melanie came in for the birthday party. We ran errands and had Mexican food and had just a really good day. Maddy decided to help herself to her Grandpa's dinner. Turns out she's a big fan of rice.
  • Saturday - Time to party! We had lots of family members come over for Maddy's 1st birthday party. Thanks to everyone for making it such a special day. (We wish you could have been here Colette and Kels!) Maddy helped open most of her gifts and was just showing off for all her family. Turns out she loves a good audience. She got a lot of cute clothes and awesome toys (Thank you Jay & Kyra for Dora!) She had cake and chocolate ice cream for the first time, but she didn't eat very much.
  • Sunday - We all went to lunch together and thought about going to the zoo, but the weather didn't look like it was going to cooperate. So, us girls ran up to B-ville for some Gap Outlet shopping and to visit the Price Tower. Mel got to take some photographs and we managed to miss the small amount of rain that came through. A few of us went bowling that night (thank you Michael for the entertainment:) while Russ's parents watched Maddy.
  • Monday - It's so hard to say goodbye! Russ's family had to head back to Texas but we'll see them again soon. We managed to clean out the garage, take a nap and get snow cones by day's end. Maddy was a fan of the Red Rasberry. I wish I had taken a picture with her bright red lips.

As an additional side note, I beat my husband at a game of horse (aka basketball). We've played twice now, me winning both times. He claimed that it was too dark the first time so we had a rematch (with witnesses).

Maddy eating her birthday cake...I was really hoping she'd make a mess but she barely got anything on her.

Maddy and her birthday gifts. Her Grandpa has been talking about getting her a red wagon since she was born.
That was all she ate of her birthday cake. Still can't believe she stayed that clean.
More toys...
We realized we should have just gotten her tissue paper with as much fun as she had with it.
Here's Aunt Melanie helping Maddy open her new purse.
Maddy's birthday cake (both hers and ours).
Maddy and Grandpa Bill having a chat the morning of her party.

I'm not quite sure what brought this on but we were attempting to feed her lunch (which typically doesn't include the lid).

Maddy loves her Dora the Explorer car. She has been riding on it, crawling on it or pushing it since it came out of the box.
